MPAD was responsible for obtaining the necessary District and Regional resource consents to provide for the removal of the original surf club, enabling works, and establishment of the new surf club and reinstating the beach environment. This coastal site is particularly sensitive, due to the adjacent land being a significant ecological area, with significant landscape values and the complexities of being in a dynamic coastal environment. To ensure the proposed building would fit in rather than detract from its surroundings, a contemporary design of natural colours and materials was proposed. The construction of the Pāpāmoa Surf Life Saving Club was completed in 2020 and has become a popular destination for the hosting of private events when not in use by the surf club. The building has become an important landmark for the surrounding area and positively contributes to the local community on a daily basis. Due to the obvious significance and importance of this project, MPAD has found their involvement in this project particularly rewarding and regards this as a significant milestone project for the company.
